Quilting bee

"several" years ago my younger sister had asked me to make her a quilt. Me being a person who never says no was honored to do it. I set a few books out and let her choose her pattern. ( hint don't ever do that) she picked her pattern and we set out searching for the perfect fabric. She chose safari prints that were a close match to the pattern she has chosen. The pattern consist of many many triangles and a couple squares. After cutting it all out, it sat ready to be sewn for a good 8 years! This year my sis is getting married and I be damned if this is not the perfect wedding gift! My dead line is June 25th 2011 this will be done!! The quilt pattern I am using is Tarzan in NewYork from the book Pieced to fit by Sheila Sinclair Snyder.

the neverending quilt!

I have been working on this quilt for quite some time!!!! I came across some vintage fabric and thought it would look cool doing a tumbling block quilt with it! never did i ever imagine what i would be getting myself into. i started sewing the blocks by hand after about 2 years i decided there was nothing wrong with the machine! and to get over being ambitious. I'm sure you can all relate to those ambitious projects of doing things the old fashion way!! after completing the blocks in about 3 hours on the machine........after all that time before what was I thinking!!!! i joined the blocks into strips........wheeeewh! Now it was time to put the strips together! now what!! the strips have tips on them (^^^^^^^^^^^^) how was I gonna join them! it's a Y seam!!!!!! ahhhhhhh! i looked online for anything that would help and all I could find was " no more y seam tumbling block quilt you can now do it in strips" ahhhh I did not want to see that!!! after about an hour of searching and finding nothing I figured it out on how to do it my own way! it's not the quickest way but it works!!!!!! yeah!!! and after about 4 hours of work this is my outcome. I have about 13 more rows to go!!!!!
